Taking Stock: May

So May happened, and I think I almost missed it because it’s not ‘just June’ now…we’re a third of the way through June already!  And June is mid-year so lots of evaluation stuff needs to happen about where I am, what’s happening next….pfffff.  We’ll see.  My self-evaluation really needs to be done in small chunks, like this because….well, because seriously I get too distracted.  Honestly, I’ll find a link to show you what I’m talking about from time to time and half an hour later, I realise I’m not supposed to be link-laddering, I’m supposed to be reflecting and writing a blog post.  Anyway, May was a nice month.  I’m sure it was.

Making: Boot cuffs ala Pinterest!
Cooking: Gluten-free fruit toast with lots of butter…not bad
Drinking: Water, water, water and a dash of ACV
Reading: ‘Mrs Woolfe and the Servants’ my third book for this READATHON!!
Wanting: it to RAIN!
Looking: at my newly fixed chookyard gate.  I drilled it myself!  If I keep this up, I won’t need you SH!
Playing: Podcast ‘Serial’ – again, I’m so late to the party but I’m addicted to it.
Deciding: How best to approach a writing project…as historical fiction, or biographically…
Wishing: I would focus a bit more on one craft project at a time.
Enjoying: The last few hours of my personal lonnnnng weekend!
Waiting: For the dark to start transitioning some new chooks in with the old ones.
Liking: My gorgeous new ladies: Coronation Sussex…beauties!
Wondering: Where I’ve put that can of white spray paint I’m sure I had.
Loving: The promise of my bulbs – they’re finally naturalising.
Pondering: That the cat either isn’t smart enough to know that not all windows are doors or is SO smart that in the absence of a door, she is signing at the window metaphorically.
Considering: The long term effect of an excellent ‘clear the air’ conversation I had on the weekend.
Watching: The cat trying to pretend she’s comfortable sitting on my mouse, a pen, and my writers’ Pilot Diary.
I’ll come up with a brilliant idea!
Marvelling: At the excellent and unexpected weekend just gone: a Naming Ceremony and a dual 40th bookended a surprise wedding.
Needing: To schedule my days off a little more strategically…turns out I can get away from myself!
Smelling: You know that special mixture of scents your favorite scarves get?  That smell.
Wearing: An op-shop cardi that everybody comments on, and my beautiful scarf from Not So Nanna...and jeans of course.
Following: Bird and Fox…she likes lots of projects too!
Noticing: That I can shop my wardrobe now, all the time!
Knowing: That my crocheting is a bit rough but I’m loving it anyway.
Thinking: I could never get away with that if I was knitting 🙂
Admiring: The spontaneous hair chop I got!
Sorting: what I’m wearing for my work week – it makes it all so much easier (and gives me a mini-sleep in!)
Buying: Nothing!  I’m shopping my wardrobe…unless…..
Getting: Thirsty!  How can that be after 72 glasses of water???
Bookmarking: Tatum Hills Farm where my lovely Phil has gone to live with a new harem!
Disliking: Bullshit artists.
Opening: My ‘Goodness Me Box’ I need ideas of a week of work snacks that’ll keep me going!
Giggling: at Simon Pegg’s 12 stages of drunkeness…ahhh…familiar…
Feeling: pretty satisfied at what I’ve achieved this weekend despite it being cray cray.
Snacking: on nothing…not hungry after my fruit toast.
Coveting: Linen scarves at Mantaeunoir.com.au Oooh La La!
Helping: by babysitting ten chickens…
Hearing: The fridge click, my desk creak, the fire pop….and possibly the Star Wars theme….it’s quite nice, really…

Hello June!  What have you all got going on?

About Alyson

I am a 45+ chick. I live in the country with 3 almost (apparently) adult children teenagers, 1 husband and many animals. Here's the thing: The black dog also hangs with me occasionally and, thank the baby cheeses, life is not perfect. That's OK, because I work hard to be a glass half-full person and I can't lie! I write to help my head, heart and humor...and I tell myself 'I've got this!'
