As a birthday present to myself (you do that in your 40’s and if you don’t, you really should!) I surprisingly bought something that had ‘randomly’ popped up in my bloody FB reader (probably because they have spies everywhere and they’re watching me all the time…Paranoid much?)…. Anyhoo, it was a homegrown diary for writers…and can I tell you…it’s flipping fabulous! It’s something I wish I’d had years ago to help me start an excellent, regular writing habit…and instead, I have it now to try to whip this writing habit into shape so that I can sleep at night. SLEEEEEEP!!
The Pilot Press Writer’s Diary is a handy resource that has the bits and pieces to support and encourage you to write and with the added goodness of reference tools like Writing Competition dates, Australian Writers Centre deets state by state, motivational blurbs and exercises for when you’re stuck…or not as well as a calendar diary. There are even pages of Style and Grammer for those OCD Grammer Nuts. And it’s all in one neat, plain, non-gender specific, spiral bound (yay) book.
Now, I do like a diary, but I tend to wander off by April, or lose it…this one is just bossy enough to keep me going with its Word of the Week (I’m so glad to discover someone else does that) and its weekly writing prompt…to be used if *ahem* procrastinating. One page has the old fashioned calender week drawn up with enough room to jot thoughts, or words or sentences – and the other side has a blank page to get busy on, whichever day you feel it. Either way, I’ve been itching to scratch in it since it came in December and have already enjoyed the pre-January week and now the first day of my Better Writing Habits!
If you are a writer/person who wants to write, or you know a writer/someone who wants to write – can I just say, check it out! I have no affiliation with the lovely Pilot people, I’m just impressed and excited to see such a brilliant, local resource…it’s so clever, I wish I’d thought of it myself…but in lieu of that, I’m just going to use the crap out of it! You can check out the Pilot Press Writer’s Diary FB thingy, here….and the website for ordering is here.
Do you get excited about fresh new diaries?
